Indianola Academy recently sent 28 swimmers to Flowood for the annual Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Swimming Championships.
Though the elementary team’s afternoon meet was postponed by inclement weather, the secondary team placed well, according to a release by Indianola Academy.
“This year was an exceptional swim year, the swimmers worked hard and were faithful to practice,” said head coach Beverly Hale. “They gave it all they had and their efforts resulted in eight individual secondary top 10 rankings for the state. I am so proud of this team and they are a great group of athletes. It has truly been a remarkable swim year.”
Individually, seventh grader Minhye Park placed fourth in the 50 breaststroke and freshman Connor Moore placed fifth in the 50 freestyle event.
Sophomore Olivia Zellner placed ninth for her 50 breaststroke and sophomore Allie Rogers placed tenth for the same event.
The junior high squad saw Coonor Moore place sixth in the 50 butterfly, Jiyoung Seo place seventh in the 50 butterfly and eighth in the 100 individual medley, while Jack Jenkins placed ninth in the 50 backstroke, Brewer Wright earned tenth place in the 50 backstroke and Whit Van Cleve place tenth in the 50 butterfly.
As for the relay teams, Avery Daniels, Sarah Frances Downs, Anna Grace Rowland and Rogers placed seventh in the 200 freestyle relay.
Park, Seo, Emma Frances Zellner and Carly Moore place seventh for the 200 freestyle relay in the junior high level.
The junior high boys represented by Jenkins, Van Cleve, Moore and Jake Hawkins placed eighth in the 200 freestyle relay.
