The North Sunflower Academy Board of Directors and Headmaster Janet Ray have approved the promotion of Todd Kitchings to Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
Kitchings joined the Rebel family in March of 2016 as assistant football coach and assistant baseball coach. In 2017-2018, he served as head baseball coach, assistant football coach and oversaw the elementary P.E. programs. This year he will serve as Athletic Director, head football coach for both junior and varsity football and continue his role as head baseball coach.
"Since then Todd has hit the ground running, becoming actively involved with our student athletes, working on the upkeep and improvement of our campus and grounds and bringing so many new and fresh ideas to North Sunflower Academy," Ray said. "Todd and I have a lot of the same visions for restoring the old traditions of North Sunflower Academy as well as implementing a few new ones we know the students, families and alumni will approve of."
"I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Rebel athletic program at North Sunflower and I look forward to helping the students we have enrolled currently and the new students we are striving to attain," Kitchings said. "This coming year you will find we have many new faces on our coaching staff and our social media and marketing team is going to be introducing those to you over the next few weeks on our North Sunflower Facebook page and our website. Mrs. Ray and myself made sure that we took the time to find the right fit for our school in each of our hires. We still are looking for the right fit for an assistant all-sport coach and know that we will find that person in due time. The goal is to turn our student athletes into better people. We are going to do a lot of learning about life and the sports will fall into place. We are excited about our new field house that is in the works and many campus upgrades for the future of our school."
Todd and his wife, Kristy are the parents of two children. Tyler is a senior at Delta State University and Madison is entering her senior year in high school.
