Facing their final regular season game, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels are bent on closing out the 2018-19 campaign in positive fashion.
Owning a 10-13 record, the Lady Colonels will travel Friday to Manchester Academy in Yazoo City for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
This outing precedes the upcoming postseason play with the opening of the District 1AAA Tournament.
Scheduled to commence February 7, this tournament will be hosted by Indianola Academy and the brackets are to be announced.
As for this past week’s play, the Lady Colonels’ efforts were highlighted by Monday night’s 38-28 district road victory over Kirk Academy of Grenada.
Defense was key in earning this decision as the IA squad limited Kirk Academy to single digit scoring in every quarter of the game.
Leading the scoring for IA was Anna Berry Stevens as the senior poured 16 points through the basket.
Sandwiched around this win was a pair of losses, most recently suffered Tuesday night when Greenville Christian School went home with a 48-33 victory over the Lady Colonels.
It was Mattie Beth Williamson’s 11 point night of play which led the IA scoring efforts.
Meanwhile, last Thursday a 45-32 loss to Starkville Academy occurred in the IA gym.
Stevens once again reached double digit status as her 14 point outing led the IA scoring in this game.
