With rain playing havoc with their schedule, the now 9-3 record Indianola Academy Lady Colonels fast pitch softball team travels to Belzoni today for another spirited match-up against Humphreys Academy.
With game time scheduled for 6 p.m., today’s match-up precedes a pair of all-important district contests the Lady Colonels have on their schedule this next week.
While next Monday will find the IA squad in Cleveland to take on Bayou Academy, next Tuesday has Kirk Academy of Grenada visiting the Lady Colonels’ field. Both games are scheduled to have the first pitch thrown at 6 p.m.
In their most recent play, the Lady Colonels fell to Lee Academy of Clarksdale by a 7-4 margin to close out their play in last Saturday’s hugely successful Indianola Academy Tournament.
With a large crowd of fans cheering their teams, the Lady Colonels completed their tournament play with a 2-2 record.
After opening with an 8-0 win over Sharkey-Issaquena Academy of Rolling Fork, the IA squad fell by a 7-1 score to Central Hinds Academy of Raymond.
Although rebounding back with an 18-0 thrashing of Greenville St. Joe High School, the Lady Colonels saw their tournament action end with the 7-4 loss to Lee Academy.
Other action occurred last Thursday when another large crowd of fans saw the Lady Colonels deal a strong Humphreys Academy squad from Belzoni a 7-5 loss.
