It was a tough week of Region 3-4A basketball for the Gentry High Lady Rams.
After suffering a pair of regional losses this past week, the Gentry High Lady Rams basketball team will now go outside regional play for a short period of time.
With a trip to Amanda Elzy High in Greenwood today, the 9-9, 2-2 Lady Rams will take on the Lady Panthers in a 6 p.m. match-up.
Another non-regional 6 p.m. clash will then occur this Saturday when Humphreys County High of Belzoni arrives to open a string of three Gentry High home dates next up on the Lady Rams’ schedule.
That date with the Cowgirls will then be followed next Tuesday by a 6 p.m. regional bout with Rosa Fort High of Tunica.
Meanwhile, in their most recent action, the Lady Rams traveled to Clarksdale High on Tuesday night and absorbed a 54-49 loss to the Lady Wildcats.
The loss occurred despite a 12-point scoring effort by Taniyah Williams and a double double (10 points and 16 rebounds) by Darlecia Coleman.
Other action this past Friday included a 56-31 regional road loss to Greenwood High School.
In that loss, the Lady Rams scoring efforts were limited to single digits in each of the game’s four quarters of play.
Also haunting the Lady Rams scoring efforts was a five for 22-shooting performance at the free throw line.
Leading the Lady Rams with nine points was freshman Williams while fellow freshman Jada Delaney pulled down 11 rebounds during her time on the court.
