After picking up another critical Region 3-4A victory Tuesday night, the Gentry High Lady Rams now have the opportunity for an additional pair to be placed into the win column this week.
Owning a 9-7, 2-0 record following Tuesday night’s come-from-behind, 46-33 home-court victory over Yazoo City High School, this Friday will find the Lady Rams taking a short trip to Greenwood High School.
This first of this week’s pair of 6 p.m. regional games will then be followed by next Tuesday’s visit to Clarksdale High School. In their most recent play against Yazoo City High School, this thrilling Gentry High victory saw the Lady Rams overcome a 23-7 halftime deficit to claim the game.
Returning to the court after the break, the Lady Rams’ defense proceeded to smother the Lady Indians, an effort which allowed the Gentry squad to outscore Yazoo City by a 39-10 margin over the course of the final two quarters of the game.
Meanwhile, last Friday at Shaw High School, the Lady Rams earned a solid 35-22 road victory over the Lady Hawks.
Taking control of the game early by way of a 22-15 halftime lead, the Lady Rams’ defense then limited the Lady Hawks to only seven points in the second half of the contest.
Jaidra Green’s 11 point game led the Lady Rams’ scoring while Shacori Dawson was close behind with her solid 10 point night of play.
Reaching double digits in the rebound category was Darlicia Coleman as the senior pulled down 15 errant shots off the glass.
