The North Sunflower Academy Rebels will finally be able to play a football game against a team from Mississippi.
After spending the first month of the season playing teams from Arkansas and Louisiana, an important trip to Calhoun Academy is next up on the Rebels’ agenda; and this Friday’s 7 p.m. kickoff could have serious District 1E ramifications.
With both teams having an extra week to prepare due to last week’s open date, the NSA Rebels will put their 3-0, 1-0 record on the line against the Cougars’ 3-1, 2-0 mark.
The Cougars come into this game riding a three game win streak and their only loss was a season-opening 62-58 decision to Prentiss Christian School.
Given each team’s potential explosiveness on offense, this Friday’s game between NSA and Calhoun Academy promises to see the football move up and down the field in rapid fire fashion.
Featuring an offense that averages 53 points per outing and a defense which has allowed a 25.3 point per game average during their recent win streak, the Cougars will butt heads with an equally impressive NSA squad. The Rebels enter this week’s game averaging 57.3 points per outing while limiting their opponents to 32 points per game.
Historically, last season the Rebels earned a 60-32 victory over Calhoun Academy, who was in route to a 5-5 season.
The Rebels also own a 6-4 series advantage in games played between these two schools since the 2004 season.
