After picking up three basketball victories in as many attempts this past week the Gentry High Rams are now in the midst of a five game run of road trips.
This elongated group of away games got its start Tuesday night at Grenada High School. Once there, the 7-1 Rams claimed a 71-63 decision over the Chargers.
With that game behind them, the Rams most immediate travel time on the road occurs this Saturday with a 7 p.m. clash against the Greenville High Hornets.
Meanwhile, next Tuesday will take the Rams to Cleveland Central High School where the Gentry squad will take the court at 7 p.m. against the Wolves. This contest also marks the Rams’ final non-regional match-up prior to Region 3-4A games begin to appear on their schedule.
That initial regional action will occur Friday, December 13 with a trip to Rosa Fort High School in Tunica.
In other play this past week the Rams earned victories over Douglass High School of Memphis and Leland High School to advance their record to its current mark.
While at Grenada High Tuesday night, a trio of players led the Rams scoring attack in this non-regional match-up.
Pacing the Rams’ was David Windfield with 17 points while Jesse Hull and Ladarius Johnson added 15 and 12 points respectively.
The Rams also wrapped two victories around Thanksgiving Day with the most recent being last Saturday’s 68-59 decision over the Leland High Cubs.
Although owning a narrow 37-32 lead at halftime, the Rams increased their lead in the second half of play by outscoring the Cubs 31-27 during the final two quarters of play.
Leading the scoring for the Rams in this game was Hull with 15 points while Joshujuan Townsend and Orlando Liddell, Jr. dropped 10 points apiece through the basket.
Making a pre-Thanksgiving trip to Memphis pay off, the Rams earned an 83-60 victory over Douglass High School.
Nursing a 43- 37 lead at halftime, the Rams returned to the court in the second half and their defense went to work in the second half of play.
Limiting their competition to 23 points over the course of the final pair of quarters, the Rams responded offensively with a pair of 20 point quarters to ultimately earn their way to the 23 point victory.
The Rams benefited from four players reaching double digit scoring status in the game, and the group was led by Windfield’s 17 point night of play.
Additional strong scoring was had by Townsend (14 points), Daryl McCray (13 points), and Hull (10 points).
