With the State 4A baseball playoffs now only one week away, the Gentry High Rams have unfinished regional competition to complete.
These games are critical to the Rams’ postseason plans as hopes are three victories this week could improve the Gentry squad’s number four seed they currently possess.
Owning a 4-7, 1-3 record, the Rams will travel to Yazoo City High School today to take on the Indians, who enter the game as the top-seeded Region 4 squad.
To date the Yazoo City squad has only dropped one Region 3 contest thus far this season.
First pitch of this doubleheader is scheduled to be thrown at 4 p.m.
One final regional game is scheduled to occur next Monday when Tunica Rosa Fort visits for a 4 p.m. match-up.
Whether or not the Rams improve their current seeding, their initial playoff opponent will come from Region 4 in the form of Kosciusko High School or New Hope High School.
These Region 4 teams also have a critical weekend of baseball to play as they currently own identical 6-0 records as the regular season schedules conclude.
The State 4A playoffs will begin next Thursday for the Rams and that initial contest of the three game series will be a road trip for Gentry Head Coach Timothy Holmes’ squad.
The 4A bracket schedule calls for game two to be played on the Gentry High field next Friday with game three to again become a road game for the Rams.
