Following an open date week, the Thomas E. Edwards High Tigers are back on the road for additional live football action this Friday night.
Owning a 4-4, 1-1 record, the Tigers of Ruleville will travel to Clarksdale to take on the 4-5, 1-2 Coahoma Early College Tigers in a Region 3-3A battle.
With both teams headed to playoff action on November 8, a victory in this week’s 7 p.m. game will help cement the Edwards High Tigers minimum of a No. 3 seeding heading into postseason play.
As for the Tigers from Clarksdale, last Friday night found them on the short end of a 26-8 score versus Amanda Elzy High of Greenwood.
That Elzy squad, along with Winona High School, could most likely settle who could be the Region 3-3A champion this year as they are also playing this Friday night.
Looking ahead, however, the Tigers of Edwards High could play the spoiler in determining the regional championship.
Edwards High Head Coach Damaris Mitchell’s squad will face Winona High in both team\s’ November 1 regular season finale.
This Friday’s meeting with Coahoma Early College, formerly known as Coahoma AHS, is the first football meeting between these two schools since the 2008 season.
Last year, the Clarksdale squad completed their campaign with a 4-7 record.
