Perhaps this Friday night will begin to satisfy the hunger of a team of Tigers.
With a trip from Ruleville to Tunica Rosa Fort High on tap, the Thomas E. Edwards, Sr. High football team will open a 2019 campaign in which there exists an intense goal to better the 6-4 record earned last season.
With kickoff slated for 7 p.m., Edwards High Head Coach Damaris Mitchell’s squad will take on a 4A member Lions squad which completed last season with a 5-7 record.
This is the first meeting between these two schools since, at least, the 2004 season.
Meanwhile, these competing teams earned a first-round playoff berth last season; with the Tigers seeing their 3A participation ending with a loss to M.S. Palmer High of Marks.
Most recently, the Tigers received a taste of action this past Saturday in Oxford where a two-quarter scrimmage against Ripley High School netted a 7-6 loss.
“We did some good things”, said Coach Mitchell, “but we did some not-so-good things. They can all be corrected. Overall, it was productive. We just have to come out Friday and play the game the way we’re taught.”
