Andy Gipson, Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture, spoke recently for 35 minutes at the Stennis-Capitol Press Forum at Hal & Mal's in downtown Jackson.
Gipson addressed a variety of subjects including distressed farm commodity prices, effect of Trump tarriffs, the negative impact of solar farms on agriculture, cooperation with the federal government, new state meat labeling laws and many other subjects.
Gipson called for statewide regulation of solar farms.
Gipson touted the department’s GenuineMS campaign aimed at celebrating Mississippi’s food and farming. The initiative’s website, genuinems.com, highlights items grown, raised, or made in Mississippi.
