Below is a press release from the Mississippi Public Service Commission:
In the recent monthly docket meeting of the Public Service Commission, Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley called on all regulated public utilities, including energy companies, to evaluate whether they or their parent company, directly or indirectly, are doing business with any Russian ventures and what their plan is to sever those ties immediately.
“In light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it is important that every agency in government ask these questions at this critical time. I agree with Lt. Governor Hosemann that we should have an all-hands-on deck approach in state government to sever any ties with Russia. I am proud to work with my fellow Commissioners, Commissioner Bailey and Commissioner Maxwell, in a bipartisan way on this effort,” said Commissioner Presley.
The Commission unanimously approved the request made by Commissioner Presley and asked that the utilities report their findings and plans to the Commission by Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
