A former Winona Police Department officer recently landed herself behind bars.
Tanareika Juaniquar Jozet Williams, 25, was arrested early last week at her home near Blackhawk when authorities with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, along with the United States Marshals Service, served a warrant. The former WPD officer was charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive who was in the possession and disposal of a firearm on Nov. 6.
Federal indictments were made against Williams after an investigation completed by the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms task force, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. These indictments refer back to late August 2022, when Williams claimed to be a victim of a hostage situation/kidnapping and an attempted murder.
Authorities brought Williams before the U.S. Magistrate, who set her bond at $10,000.
Williams has since made bail and is currently out on bond.
