Supes reverse course after reverse auction price tag for garbage trucks too high

During a special call meeting on Tuesday, the Sunflower County Board of Supervisors voted to execute an emergency reverse auction to purchase three new garbage trucks because on Friday all of the trucks were out of service. However, they later changed their minds after the bids came in.

Indianola expands emergency order with eviction moratorium

13-year-old shot, recently-acquitted suspect turns himself in

A Sunday evening shooting in Indianola has resulted in a serious injury to a 13-year-old.
According to Indianola police investigator Irish Johnson, the unnamed juvenile was shot once in the neck and was airlifted to a Jackson-area hospital.
Police have arrested 24-year-old Damien Ross in connection with the shooting.

Details still scarce in Hwy. 3 shooting case

As of press time, the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department was still investigating a suspected burglary that took place last week in the 1300 block of MS Highway 3 during the early morning hours on Wednesday.
