Board tables proposal to rename stretch of Hannah for Club Ebony owner Shephard

At Monday night’s Indianola Board of Aldermen session, the city’s officials voted to table a request by citizen Clanton Beamon to rename a portion of Hannah Street in honor of former Club Ebony owner Mary Shephard.

Beamon appeared with a proposal and signed petition.

Three out-of-towners found out that spending fake money in Indianola can lead to some real jail time.

According to Sgt. Irish Johnson, city police arrested one woman and two men in conjunction with a rash of counterfeit $100 bills that showed up in the tills of area merchants.

According to Mayor Steve Rosenthal, Indianola will be receiving the Mississippi Municipal Leagues’ Spirit Award for cities with a population of 10,000 persons or greater.
