Whatley crowned NSA homecoming queen

North Sunflower Academy crowned its 2018 homecoming queen last Friday.

Senior Amber Whatley was crowned by NSA Headmaster Janet Ray prior to the game.

Services for Edward Young of Indianola will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Young, 59, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens.

Man arrested for multiple assaults on mother, stepfather

Bond has been set at $500,000 for Johnel White, 53, of 620 East Elmwood Circle, and according to Miss. Code Ann. 43-47-19, he could get up to 20 years in the state penitentiary.

White was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a vulnerable adult and is currently in the Sunflower County jail.
