Indianola Lions Club member Jim Aycock invited Ms. Jennifer Woodard, Art Department Chair of Mississippi Delta Community College, to speak at the November 16th meeting. Ms. Woodard has been an MDCC faculty member for 10 years and has served as chairperson for 7 years. Ms. Woodard stated that her goal is to educate others on the importance of art, music, and communication for mental health. She has written a book for art appreciation that is a part of the curriculum at MDCC and currently teaches live-streamed art classes to Parchman inmates. Ms. Woodard has taught pottery classes for many years and stated that retirees from the community often are students who build relationships with young students as they learn the art of spinning clay
