The Indianola Police Department announced last week that a suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Aquavious Hines is in custody.
According to IPD Chief Edrick Hall, Stedarrish Herman of Moorhead turned himself in and will face manslaughter charges in connection with the Christmas Eve slaying that took place reportedly in the vicinity of
Christmas Eve homicide Roosevelt Street and Pershing Avenue in the early morning hours Tuesday.
Moorhead Police Chief Fred Randle, Hall said, worked with the family, and he surrendered himself to Randle, who transported him to IPD headquarters on Christmas Day.
Hines was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at South Sunflower County Hospital as a result of injuries from gunshot wounds he received earlier that morning.
Hall said the call came in shortly after 1 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a friend of Hines had placed him in a car and took him to the hospital after the shooting.
Hines’ murder was officially the sixth homicide of 2019 in Indianola.
