Arkansas has passed into law "education freedom" in which the state government gives every family approximately $8,000 per school age child to spend at the school of their choice, public or private.
Education freedom has also been referred to as school choice or vouchers.
Ten other states have passed similar laws. Such a law has passed the Louisiana House of Representatives. With a new Republican governor there replacing a Democrat, education freedom will probably soon become law in Louisiana.
In anticipation of a similar movement in Mississippi, the Mississippi Public Policy Center brought in several experts to discuss these developments at River Hills Tennis Club.
