What is one way to follow an open date on your football schedule?
For the Thomas Edwards High Tigers, it will be to open the all-important Region 3-3A portion of their schedule.
That is exactly what will occur tonight when the 1-3 Tigers travel to Greenville O’Bannon High to take on the 4-1 Green Wave.
With kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., the Tigers will have an extra challenge waiting for them in the form of an angry O’Bannon High squad.
For last Friday night, the Green Wave suffered their first loss of the season on their home field.
It was the now 4-1 South Delta High of Rolling Fork which handed the Green Wave the first blemish to their heretofore perfect record. Adding injury to insult, South Delta High also became the first team all season to score more than one touchdown on the O’Bannon High defense.
For comparison purposes, thus far this season there has not been an opponent common to both Edwards High and O’Bannon High.
The Green Wave have been playing like a team on a mission this season and have already won more games than in 2024, when they recorded a 3-6 record.
Historically, the last time Edwards High and O’Bannon High met on a football field was in the 2019 season, when the Tigers snapped a six-game losing streak to the Green Wave.
However, O’Bannon High still owns a 15-14 edge in this football series.
