The Mississippi Delta Community College's Christian Student Center hosted its first official Walk 4 Water this past Tuesday as part of the college's Springfest celebration.
The event brought together community members and students to raise awareness and funds for Healing Hands International, a nonprofit dedicated to providing clean drinking water to underserved populations.
Corey Ramsey, director of the Christian Student Center at MDCC, emphasized the significance of the event.
"This is the first official Walk 4 Water in the state of Mississippi," Ramsey stated. "It’s important for us because it raises community awareness about the work we do, while also allowing us to model living out the Christian faith in a tangible way for the students."
The Walk 4 Water initiative is designed not only to foster community involvement in Moorhead but also to connect students with broader global issues related to access to clean water. Healing Hands International has positively impacted the lives of over 2 million people worldwide through its efforts.
"We are thrilled to support their mission and raise awareness for their work while providing a meaningful experience for the young adults in our community," Ramsey added.
Participants had the opportunity to donate directly to the cause, with all proceeds supporting Healing Hands International's ongoing projects.
The event marked a significant step in MDCC's commitment to community service and global outreach, emphasizing the importance of clean water as a fundamental human right.
