I love gospel music. For some time now when I lay down at night the gospel song “What a day that will be” flows in my thoughts. I have always known that when my time on earth is up, the Lord will take my hand and lead me home. Maybe this is on my mind since several of my friends have gone to be with Him lately. Maybe I have been thinking that my years on earth have been many because He has thoroughly blessed me. Maybe my health problems have got me thinking it is close to my time to go because I haven’t fully recovered from the fall I took.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not giving up. I am a fighter, positive, and a very optimistic person. My wife is a strong person and very helpful, and I have a great support group of family and friends. I don’t want this column to sound as though I am giving up because I am not. I do want everyone to know that when the Lord calls me home, I’m ready.
It is my wish that you would take the time and listen to the lyrics of this great hymn. Its message is so powerful and gives us a preview of what it must be like to go to Heaven.
I know the world is full of naysayers, atheists, and deniers of God. It is hard for me to understand any of their thoughts when He provides us with a tremendous earth, changing seasons for us to enjoy, and heavenly bodies of the sun, moon, and stars. He also allows us to have tragic weather conditions as a wake-up call to who is in charge. He talks to us through prayers and the study of His Word, the Bible.
Many of you are facing problems of life. It could be financial or marital situations that seem to be unending. It may be relationship diversions and trials that we cannot overcome. We must realize that all these troubles will come to an end one day.
The best way to handle these man-made problems is to invite Jesus into your heart and live for Him. Then we need to listen to Him and He will guide our steps. Stay in His Word because it will guide you through problems.
The first verse of this great hymn says, “There’s coming a day when no heartaches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more, on that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.”
I am looking forward to that day when the Lord comes to take me home. When that will be I have no idea. I do know that until that day I am going to try and live for Him here on earth and be a witness for Him. What about you? Do you know Christ as your living Savior? Are you looking forward to that day when He comes?
