Local business owner Bryant Kimbrough of Kimbrough Trucking Transport LLC is keeping Mississippi Valley State University in motion with an 18-wheeler valued at over $200,000 donated to the MVSU football team. Kimbrough went from keeping freight moving with 12 years in trucking to keeping MVSU moving with a truck for transporting football equipment to all away games.
“I saw that it was important to provide that truck to them,” Kimbrough said. “It will be less stressful for them, and they can haul all their equipment versus what they were limited to. So when they go to off (site) games, they can set up like they are at their own house.”
The need was seen and discussed among MVSU, MVSU V-CLUB, and the Mississippi Valley State University National Alumni Association. Bryant Kimbrough was brought into the loop by Kimbrough Trucking Operations Manager Steve Hayes.
“I told him (Hayes) I thought that would be a great idea,” Kimbrough said.
Kimbrough met with the MVSU athletics director and MVSU National Alumni Association president to examine what the football program needed and what Kimbrough could supply.
Kimbrough, an alumnus, says he has strong ties to MVSU with all of his family being Delta Devils and Devilettes.
MVSU unveiled the new Big V 18-wheeler on Monday, August 29, at the Rice-Totten Football Stadium with a performance from the Mean Green Marching Machine.
