There’s just a little over a month until the filing deadline for Indianola’s municipal election.
Sam Brock Jr. has submitted his papers for reelection for the city’s Ward 5 seat.
He is the first of the incumbent aldermen to file for reelection.
Incumbent Mayor Ken Featherstone announced his bid for reelection and filed papers earlier in the year.
Hollis Myrick has filed to run for mayor as well.
As of press time, no one had filed to run for Ward 1 alderman, a seat currently occupied by Gary Fratesi.
Kendrick K. Carpenter and Robert L. Campbell have filed to run for the Ward 2 alderman seat, which is currently held by Darrell Simpson.
Calvin Moton has filed to run for the Ward 3 alderman seat, which is currently held by Ruben Woods.
Johnny Phillips and Dana Myrick Jr. have filed to run for the Ward 4 alderman seat, which is currently held by Marvin Elder.
Rodreigus Young has filed to run for the Ward 5 alderman seat, challenging Brock.
