The Indianola Police Department is investigating the death of a man after a body was discovered in a ditch on U.S. 49 on Tuesday morning.
IPD is investigating the death as a hit-and-run.
“It appeared that he got hit by a vehicle on Highway 49 right in front of the bus station,” IPD Investigator Irish Johnson told The Enterprise-Tocsin on Tuesday.
According to authorities, the victim is a black male, believed to be between 40 to 50 years of age.
The victim's name has not been released.
A "citizen," on the way to his workplace saw the body in the ditch around 7 a.m. and called IPD, Johnson said.
There were some car parts from the vehicle left on the scene that the police plan to use in their investigation.
No other details were immediately available.
