Hoping a new calendar year will breathe a new and consistent life into their schedule, the Gentry High School basketball teams are in the midst of a three game run of Region 3-4A contests.
The first of those important dates occurred Tuesday night when the Gentry High squads split their night’s play against visiting Yazoo City High School.
Following the 2-0, 1-0 Lady Rams 27-22 win over the Lady Indians, the 1-1, 0-1 Rams then took the court and were dealt a 57-37 defeat.
With that night of play now in the books, home-court advantage disappears for the Gentry High squads the balance of this next week’s action.
This Friday’s game will be a huge test as the Gentry squads take the short trip to Greenwood High School.
Next Tuesday then takes the Gentry squads to Clarksdale High for their third consecutive night of regional competition.
Both nights of play will see the girls taking the court at 6 p.m. while the boys’ game will follow.
In their recent victory over Yazoo City, the Lady Rams’ scoring efforts were led by the dozen points placed on the scoreboard by Amber Curtis.
Later that evening, the Rams suffered their loss to the Indians with Troy Griffin pacing the Gentry High scoring with his 10 point game.
The Rams also benefited from the eight points apiece scored by Tavarus Burnett, Makelvi Hutchins, and Laderrius Love.
