Northwest Mississippi Community College standout and former Indianola Academy slugger Ben Van Cleve helped to propel the Rangers the Region 23 Tournament with a powerful performance at the plate this weekend against Northeast.
Van Cleve gave the Rangers a three-run lead in the first inning, following a Hayden Leatherwood RBI single by smashing a two-run homer.
He would later add an RBI single in the third inning.
Van Cleve finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBI.
The former Colonel and Ole Miss commit was also 3-for-3 with two RBI Northwest’s game one 9-5 win over Northeast.
Van Cleve enters the regional tournament with a .367 average, with 55 hits, including 12 homers.
Northwest will open the Region 23 Tournament against No. 1 LSU Eunice on Wednesday in Fulton. First pitch is scheduled for noon and live video and stats will be available through nwccrangers.com.
