Santa Clause is coming back to town.
Through a special effort by Robin Rosenthal and several students and members of the First Baptist Church in Indianola, steel frames that were stored at the Indianola Public Works department that depict various Christmas symbols are being reconditioned, including the face of Santa, which hasn’t been used in years.
The young people gathered at Rosenthal’s home on Saturday and worked on restoring the pieces that will be used to decorate city streets during the upcoming holiday, as a way of satisfying school service hour requirements.
The frames were cluttered with plastic tie-downs and strands of old torn garland that had to be removed before new coverings could be attached.
Mayor Steve Rosenthal said they plan to hang the Santas on the poles nearest the lower elementary schools to appeal to the younger children.
Celia Holland of First Baptist Church, Kavarius Cooks, Jacorie Davis, Brayden Kimble, Emmanuel Milton, Breanna Kimble and Marques Johnson a member of Lake Chapel Church in Inverness worked several hours to refurbish the decoration frames.
