It is crunch time for the Indianola Academy Colonels baseball team as they are in the midst of plowing through the deepest part of the District 1AAA portion of their schedule.
Thus far, the efforts have been positive for the 12-4, 4-0 Colonels when they entered Wednesday evening’s doubleheader against North Delta School in Batesville.
The Colonels entered Wednesday’s twinbill looking to sweep this three-game series after the IA squad claimed a 12-1 home field Tuesday night decision over the Green Wave.
Wednesday’s results were unavailable at press-time.
Additional upcoming baseball action has the IA squad traveling to always tough Bayou Academy in Cleveland next Monday for a 6 p.m. clash against the defending district champion Colts.
In Tuesday night’s victory over North Delta School, the Colonels broke open a 3-1 game when a fourth inning two-out rally resulted in four runs crossing the plate. The outburst was aided by four consecutive hits, three of which were two-baggers.
Meanwhile on the mound, junior Josh Hill methodically mowed down North Delta hitters as his complete game performance netted 13 strikeouts with two walks. The Green Wave only managed four hits off the right-hander in the contest, two of which occurred in the fourth frame to drive in their only run.
In their time at the plate, the Colonels would collect seven doubles among their dozen hits with Hill (3 RBI’s) and Will Davis drilling two doubles apiece to lead the IA hitting attack.
Also picking up a double and a single was Spencer Davis while Wesley Lester added a pair of singles to the cause.
Rounding out the hitting leaders with a double apiece were Reed Junkin, Thomas Putnam, and Logan White.
Davis, Lester, and Putnam’s hits also generated two RBI’s apiece in this contest.
