With their extended win streak still intact, the 7-0, 3-0 Gentry High Rams baseball team continues to dodge the rain.
Meanwhile, Head Coach Timothy Holmes’ squad will attempt to complete this week’s scheduled Region 3-4A series with Tunica Rosa Fort High.
Game times and locations are to be announced.
When this week’s action is completed, additional regional action will take place for the Rams next Tuesday with a visit to Yazoo City High School for another 4 p.m. baseball game.
In the Rams’ only outing this past Saturday, the Gentry High squad defeated visiting Hollandale Simmons High School by a 5-2 margin.
In this non-regional decision over the Blue Devils, the Rams benefited greatly from Christian Randle’s one hit pitching performance.
The lefthander’s complete game outing would ultimately strike out seven Blue Devils while issuing three base on balls.
In a tight game, the Rams plated a run in the first inning and this lone run stood up through five innings of play.
While the Blue Devils knotted the score at one apiece in their top of the sixth, the Rams would cluster enough hits in their half of that same frame to post four more runs on the scoreboard.
Although the Hollandale squad tallied one last run in their final at bat, Randle closed the door on their hopeful rally as the Rams earned the victory.
At the plate, the Rams picked up seven hits, all singles, with Jatavious Whitley’s pair of hits leading the way.
Also recording an RBI single apiece in this contest were Kylon Bush, Xavier Carpenter, Junarious Faint, and Malek Galvin.
