A busy week of basketball continues today for the Indianola Academy Colonels as they make a trip to Batesville for a 7 p.m. District 1AAA clash with the North Delta School Green Wave.
Owning an 11-3, 4-0 record, the Colonels will then resume their six game string of road games on Friday with a non-district visit to Pillow Academy in Greenwood.
A return to district action will then occur next Tuesday when IA Head Coach Allen Hill’s squad travels to Clarksdale to take on the Lee Academy Colts.
All of this week’s contests are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
In their most recent action this past Tuesday, the Colonels claimed their latest district decision: a 47-27 victory over Kirk Academy in Grenada.
This win came on the heels of last Saturday’s hard-fought non-district 51-43 loss to Heritage Academy in Columbus.
Other action last Thursday saw the IA squad claim a 67-43 win over visiting North Delta School of Batesville.
In their victory over Kirk Academy, the Colonels were led by Stefon Smith’s 15 points while T.K. Bolden added a dozen points to IA’s offensive efforts.
Reaching double figures in the rebounding category was Randy Kimble as the senior added six points to his 10 grabs of errant shots.
In last Saturday’s loss to Heritage Academy, an 18 point, 10 rebound double double by Bolden was not enough as the Patriots took a 19-15 halftime lead to the dressing room and then expanded their lead in this physical basketball game.
Against North Delta School, the Colonels benefited from four players reaching double digit scoring en route to earning their 24 point district victory.
Smith led all scorers in this game with his 19 points while Kimble’s 18 points was followed by Bolden and Mason, who hit for 15 and 12 points respectively.
