After opening the 2018 portion of their schedule with a Tuesday night 49-28 District 1AAA victory over visiting Bayou Academy of Cleveland, the 9-2, 2-0 Colonels basketball schedule resumes with a rare non-tournament Saturday contest.
For on that day, the IA squad will take a trip to Heritage Academy in Columbus for a 7 p.m. non-district match-up with the Patriots.
This will be followed by another road trip next Tuesday to Kirk Academy of Grenada where another 7 p.m. tipoff returns the Colonels to District 1AAA competition.
As for their most recent play Tuesday night against Bayou Academy, the Colonels used eight different players to accumulate their points in this 21 point victory.
This collective scoring effort was led by T.K. Bolden’s double double which included 19 points and 10 rebounds.
In other action last weekend, the Colonels participated in the Kirk Academy Tournament and their efforts yielded a pair of victories in their three games played.
After opening their tournament play last Thursday with a 48-36 win over Manchester Academy of Yazoo City, the Colonels handed Carroll Academy a 61-43 loss on Friday.
However, the IA squad saw their winning ways come to an end on Saturday as Washington School of Greenville prevailed by a 46-37 margin over the Colonels.
This loss was absorbed despite Bolden’s double double which included 16 points and a dozen rebounds.
In their 18-point victory over Carroll Academy, it was David Mason’s outstanding 24 point performance which led the Colonels’ scoring in this game.
Double digit scoring was also had from Stefon Smith, who turned in a 12 point outing while Bolden completed the game by adding 10 points to IA’s side of the scoreboard.
The Colonels opened their tournament play with their 12-point victory over Manchester Academy as three players reached double figure scoring.
Randy Kimble led the team with a 17-point night of play while Smith was close behind with 15 points scored.
Turning in a double double was Bolden, as the senior added a dozen rebounds to his 10 points scored against the Mavericks’ defense.
