Three consecutive one point games and their season is off to a 2-1, 1-0 start.
Such is the case for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels soccer team as they entered Wednesday evening’s home-field match-up against Marshall Academy of Holly Springs.
Results of that Division III North game were unavailable at press-time.
However, Head Coach Alex Deason’s squad will resume their play next Tuesday with a 3 p.m. home-field non-division game against Greenville St. Joseph High School.
This will be followed one day later with a return match against Washington School of Greenville. Also a non-divisional bout, this match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
In their action this past week, the Lady Colonels began last Wednesday by claiming a 2-1 victory over visiting Manchester Academy of Yazoo City.
Meanwhile, last Thursday dealt the IA squad its first loss of the season as a road trip to Washington School netted a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Lady Generals.
While unable to find the back of the net against the Washington School defense, the IA defensive effort and goalie Hannah Lloyd also kept the Lady Generals from scoring until minute 72 of the 80 minute game.
In their victory over Manchester Academy, the Lady Colonels once again made scoring difficult for their opponent.
While continuing to limit their opposition to one goal or less for the third consecutive game, the Lady Colonels received one goal apiece from Anna Gresham Veazey and Sarah Frances Downs; a total which proved all the IA girls would need to claim the game.
