Hoping to pick up another District 1AAA victory tonight, the now 9-9, 2-2 Indianola Academy Lady Colonels will have to travel to North Delta School in Batesville to earn it.
In the midst of a six game run of road trips, the Lady Colonels will then travel to Pillow Academy in Greenwood on Friday for a non-district meeting.
Next Tuesday will then find the IA girls in Clarksdale for another district clash with Lee Academy.
Like tonight’s contest, these upcoming games own a 6 p.m. tip-off.
In their most recent play this past Tuesday night at Kirk Academy in Grenada, the Lady Colonels fell by a 63-20 score to the strong Raiderettes.
However, other action this past Saturday at Heritage Academy in Columbus yielded better results as the Lady Colonels claimed a 52-41 non-district decision over the Lady Patriots.
With a trio of players reaching double digit scoring, the IA squad was led by Anna Berry Stevens’ 15-point game as they took a 30-16 lead into the dressing room at halftime.
While Sarah Grace Manor and Mallory Price also hit double figure scoring with their 10 points apiece, Sidney Landrum’s strong play in the paint netted the senior a dozen rebounds to go along with her nine points scored.
Meanwhile, last Thursday found the Lady Colonels suffering their first district loss (35-22) of the season to visiting North Delta School.
Manor led IA’s scoring efforts with her six point game while Stevens was limited to five points in this night’s play.
