They are riding a three game win streak and the now 6-1 Gentry High Rams basketball team will attempt to extend that string this Saturday evening.
For with that day’s trip to Greenville High School, the Rams and the Hornets will take the court at 7 p.m. in a non-regional clash.
This road trip precedes another 7 p.m. tip-off next Tuesday, only on this day the Rams will be playing on their home-court against Yazoo County High School.
As for their most recent play Tuesday night, the Rams earned a 70-51 decision over Amanda Elzy High of Greenwood,
Outscoring the Panthers in every quarter of the game, the Rams built a 41-29 halftime lead and then cruised on to the victory.
Another near habitual double double from Ernest Minton paced the Rams as the senior added 16 points and 10 rebounds to his four blocked shots.
Additional double figure scoring was received from Darrius Clark and Cartisco Brown, who contributed 16 and 12 points respectively. Also adding seven points to his 10 rebounds earned in this game was Robert Bell.
Meanwhile, in last week’s Gentry High School Thanksgiving Classic, the Rams swept their competition as they hammered Horn Lake High by an 81-50 margin while handing Ruleville Central a 75-47 defeat.
Against Horn Lake last Friday, the Rams benefited from a pair of double double performances to help fuel their lopsided 31 point victory.
Along with Clark’s performance which included 24 points and 12 rebounds, Minton’s double double was comprised of 12 points and 13 rebounds. Also hitting double figures in the scoring category was Brown, who posted 20 points onto Gentry’s side of the scoreboard.
In their Saturday win over Ruleville Central, the Rams made sure the game was never in doubt as they outscored the Tigers in every quarter of the game.
Brown and Clark again helped pace the Rams’ scoring efforts in this game. The pair registered 15 points apiece while Minton again was a force under the basket as he added a dozen rebounds to his five points scored.
