The Indianola Police Department is investigating a suspected hit-and-run accident that occurred late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
According to Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton, Dianne Carter, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene just across the railroad tracks on Front Avenue Extension, which feeds into Garrard Road, at 12:43 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
IPD Chief Ronald Sampson told The Enterprise-Tocsin on Wednesday that investigators have some leads they are following but no further update was available.
