An Indianola citizen said she has been waiting a while now on getting water to a property on Jefferson Street.
Patricia Brewer appeared before the mayor and board this past Monday night, and she indicated she has been waiting as long as two and a half years on a water connection, but she did clarify she paid her connection fee in September of this year.
“I paid the fee on September 14, and still no water,” she said.
City Inspector Elvis Pernell joined the conversation and stated that he has had a difficult time locating a connector to her property.
“We went around there and hoped to find a cutoff and control,” he said. “There’s not.”
There was a discussion by the aldermen about where the connection could be, but Ward 1 Alderman Gary Fratesi emphasized that the city might be obligated to get water to that property one way or another.
“Since we issued the permit, I think we have an obligation to get her water any kind of way we have to,” Fratesi said.
Board Attorney Kimberly Merchant, available by phone, weighed in, eventually stating that she would have a sit-down meeting with Brewer and Pernell to get a better handle on the situation.
“I think that’s prudent,” Mayor Ken Featherstone said.
Pernell also indicated that he was going to go back out to the property this week to have another go at finding the connection.
