Remember the infamous statement,
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”?
What a lie…from the pits of hell.
Words do hurt; in fact, words hurt worse than sticks and stones, and often, it is not the words of others that have a lasting effect on us, it is our own words that hurt us the most. It is our own negative self-talk that deters us, that robs us of God’s promises.
We continuously tell ourselves…
You are not smart enough.
You are not worthy.
You do not have a purpose.
Your life is a total waste.
You are not loved.
And those lies cause us to shrink, dim our lights, and not pursue God’s plans for our lives. It robs us of our Faith. It contradicts who our Creator says we are.
While the enemy wants us to believe otherwise, God loves us unconditionally, and He thinks the world of us. God thinks we are perfect, complete, & lacking nothing. He created us just as we are on purpose for a purpose. He has given us everything we need to fulfill His plan.
Stop speaking the lies of the enemy over life. Stop cursing your own life with your own words and thoughts. We have to be intentional with getting alignment with who God says says we are.
Each morning, I get out of bed and walk to my bathroom mirror. On that mirror, I have positive affirmations written on it that I speak to myself.
You are smart enough.
You are beautiful inside and out.
You are loved.
You are needed.
You are intelligent.
You are wise.
You are powerful.
You are a world changer.
...and it is so because each of those affirmations align with who my Creator says that I am.
If you find that you are always downing yourself, I suggest you do the same. Make a list of positive affirmations that counteract the negative words and thoughts you have spoken to and thought about yourself. It may feel awkward at first and you may not even agree with the affirmations initially but that is okay. Your thoughts and feeling will eventually come into alignment.
Keep telling yourself positive things about yourself! Keep speaking life over your life!
Your words carry weight and have power!
