The Gentry High Rams are now at the midway point of their football season and still undefeated.
Owning a 4-0 record, the Gentry High Rams will play their final non-regional game of the season this Friday night prior to beginning crucial Region 3-4A competition.
That upcoming four-week stretch of regional games will then consume the balance of the Rams’ 2021 schedule.
Hosting Leflore County High this Friday at 7 p.m., the Rams will be hoping to continue their winning ways following last week’s weather-shortened 28-6 victory over the visiting Leland High Cubs.
Bringing a 1-2 record to the Gentry High field this week, last week’s open date has afforded the Tigers from Itta Bena two weeks to prepare for the Rams.
The Rams and the Tigers last played in the 2018 season when Leflore County earned a 38-14 decision over the Gentry High squad. That decision represents the third consecutive victory the Tigers have recorded over the Rams.
Historically, Leflore County also owns a 6-4 series advantage between these two schools.
In their victory last week over Leland High (0-4), the Rams received a pair of touchdown runs from Marcus Stubbs to lead their offensive efforts.
The junior recorded scoring runs of 40 and 35 yards during this game against the Cubs.
Also posting a 12 yard scoring catch from quarterback Troy Griffin was Pharheim Washington.
Closing out the Rams’ scoring this night was Jay Silas, who rammed the ball into the zone from one yard away.
