This morning, Moorhead plans to both celebrate Mississippi’s birthday and honor the lives of the troops lost in the Delta plane crash on July 11.
The Moorhead Garden Club will host a Bicentennial event that will recognize Mississippi’s 200th birthday at 10 a.m. in Moorhead at the historic site of Where the Southern Crosses the Yellow Dog.
Gov. Phil Bryant will be the guest speaker at the event, which will pay tribute to the 16 servicemen who perished in the military plane crash along the Leflore and Sunflower County Line.
Bryant, who is in his second term as governor of the state, will return to his hometown of Moorhead for the event.
