Its primary election season and the unofficial results of Tuesday’s Democratic and Republican races have been tallied.
The Sunflower County Circuit Clerk’s office issued the Democratic U.S. Senate results for the county as:
Omeria Scott – 260 votes
Howard Sherman – 248 votes
David Baria – 139 votes
Victor Maurice – 41
Jerone Garland – 31
Jensen Bohren – 26
For U.S. House of Representatives:
Bennie Thompson – 755
In the Republican race:

Richard Boyanton – 26
Statewide it appears there will be a runoff between Sherman and Baria who each received only about a third of the votes cast.
Reports at press time have that runoff date as June 26.
Wicker took a deciding win over Boyanton by capturing nearly 83 percent of the votes.
The unofficial results of the runoff election for the House District 30 seat vacated earlier this year are also in, although the numbers were not scheduled to be certified until after press time on Wednesday, the count is.
Blake Ferretti – 345
Tracey Rosebud – 411
In the initial race, Lester William carried Sunflower County with 381 votes, Ferretti had 207, Rosebud only brought in 79 and William McClellan had 17.
However, in the overall election, which counted precincts in Bolívar, Tallahatchie, Quitman and Sunflower counties, Blake garnered 1,018 total votes to Rosebud’s 546, which sparked the runoff. McClellan and Williams had 306 and 496 respectively.
