An Indianola staple is now under new ownership.
Brannon and Ann Shelby Walls, owners of TurnRow Crossfit, The Perch and Tin Can Shaved Ice, have purchased the space formerly occupied by Tezi’s Market Place at 421 U.S. 82 W.
The couple has rebranded the business as The Perch Flowers & Gifts, the name of Ann Shelby’s business that had been located next to Tezi’s. She began heading the operation this week.
Ann Shelby said she plans to add to the existing building and will lease space to two hair dressers, and she will continue with the printing, screen printing and vinyl services she provided at The Perch.
Jackie Fratesi, owner of the business for 28 years with her husband Ronny, told The Enterprise-Tocsin recently about the couple’s plans to retire and sell the business. Ronny Fratesi, who also ran a lawn and landscaping business, has already discontinued that venture, she said.
“It’s been a blast,” Jackie Fratesi said during an interview, adding that she will now get to spend more time with her grandchildren and her mother.
The two originally bought Pearson’s Nursery when they moved back to town in 1990 and would move 10 years later to the property that now houses a gift shop.
Ann Shelby is an Indianola native and Indianola Academy graduate. Her husband Brannon is a nurse at South Sunflower County Hospital, and he also runs Turn Row CrossFit in Indianola.
