A three-car accident on U.S. 82 at the MS 448/Sunflower Avenue intersection held up traffic during a heavy downpour early Monday morning.
A white 2016 Dodge Charger driven by a 54-year-old Sunflower woman was traveling west on U.S. 82 when it collided with a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by a 22-year-old Madison, MS man, who was headed south and attempting to make a left turn from MS 448.
The impact caused the Toyota to spin and hit a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 60-year-old Gresham Street woman, who was traveling north on Sunflower Avenue. A witness at the scene told police that the traffic signals were being serviced at the time of the accident and malfunctioned giving all lanes the right of way.
According to the police report, the driver of the Dodge Charger was transmitted, by MedStat ambulance, to South Sunflower County Hospital, treated for pains in her left arm, chest and neck and released.
All cars had to be towed from the scene because they were unable to be driven. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
