Bonnie Sue Cockrell Baker, 81, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.
Bonnie was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Linn, to James Leonard Cockrell and Mary Powell Cockrell. She worked for Modern Line Products for 42 years prior to her retirement. Bonnie was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and cooking was her passion. Bonnie was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Indianola for many years, where she served as church hostess.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Baker; a son, James Darrell Baker; her grandson, Justin Baker; and her brother, Dudley Cockrell.
Bonnie is survived by two sons, Derwin Baker of Oxford and Phil (Carole) Baker of Nixa, Missouri; two sisters, Nadine (Jimmy) McDaniel of Byhalia and Ellen (Johnny) Soliz of Cleveland; her granddaughter, Brittany (Westley) Harris of Benton, Ark.; granddaughter-in-law, Stacie Baker of Bolivar, Missouri; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service began at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Duane Keith officiating. Burial followed at Indianola Memorial Gardens.
Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
