Janice Ann Allen Matthews, 71, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood.
Janice was born June 29, 1947 in Indianola to Walter Allen and Annie Mae King. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Janice enjoyed traveling with her husband and reading. She was known to irritate her grandchildren for fun. Janice worked as a clerk for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Stephanie Matthews.
Janice in survived by her husband of 52 years, Sam Matthews Sr.; one daughter, Dana Matthews of Indianola; one son, Sam Matthews Jr. and his wife Wendy of Vidor, Texas; two brothers, Charles Edward Allen and his wife Janice of Los Angeles and Bo Allen and his wife Jo of Kirksville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family received friends yesterday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m., also at Burton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crowder Cemetery in Crowder, Miss.
