The Gentry High Rams baseball team has begun its 2021 playoff competition.
With a long three-hour trip Wednesday to northeast Mississippi and a final destination of Fulton, the 1-5 Rams took on the Itawamba AHS Indians.
The Itawamba High squad entered the 4A playoffs representing Region 2-4A competition.
Although results of the doubleheader were unavailable at presstime, if the Rams claimed at least one of those Wednesday contests the deciding game of this series will occur Friday at 4:30 p.m. on the Gentry High field.
The winner of this Gentry versus Itawamba match-up will then move on to next week’s second round of 4A playoff competition.
The Rams entered their postseason play with no action this past week due to cancellations by scheduled opponents.
