Police in Indianola and Sunflower are actively investigating two separate shooting incidents from this week.
Indianola Police Investigator Irish Johnson told The Enterprise-Tocsin this week that a shooting occurred on Sunday evening at a convenience store involving two individuals.
Johnson said that it is believed that the altercation began in Washington County and escalated when the alleged shooter later saw the victim at the store.
Johnson said that IPD attempted to retrieve video footage from the store, but it was said to have been lost by the next day.
“That would have helped us to see how it started,” Johnson said.
The victim was airlifted after the shooting.
Johnson said that the victim is expected to survive and had not been cooperative with investigators.
An arrest had been made, but the The E-T is not identifying either person at this time, as they were both listed as suspects and victims in the report.
Meanwhile, Sunflower Chief Bobby Walker told The E-T that his department arrested Vindarius Gardner in connection with a Tuesday night shooting that left one man shot in the face.
The victim is expected to survive.
The E-T does not identify the victims of crimes.
Walker said that witnesses reported that the two men were talking before Gardner allegedly pulled a handgun and pulled the trigger.
The victim was airlifted, and he is cooperating with law enforcement.
Anyone with information regarding this shooting should contact the Sunflower Police Department.
