A relative light week of basketball action is up next for the Gentry High Rams as a Saturday trip to Shaw High School serves as the lone competition over the course of the next seven days.
Taking an 18-6, 7-0 record into this Saturday’s 7 p.m. non-regional contest, the Rams most recently hit the road and claimed a 53-48 Tuesday night Region 3-4A victory over Clarksdale High School.
This win over the Wildcats sent the Rams back into the win column after last Saturday’s 76-63 loss to Grenada High School ended a seven game win streak the Gentry High squad had been enjoying.
In that loss to Grenada High, the Rams received double digit scoring from a trio of Rams which was led by Jesse Hull’s 16 point night of play.
Also dropping a dozen points apiece through the basket against the Chargers were Robert Bell and Makelvi Hutchins.
Additional play occurred last Friday when a trip to Tunica Rosa Fort High yielded the Rams a 58-55 regional victory.
Although down by a 29-28 margin at halftime, the Rams rallied back and completed the game in strong fashion. The net result of the effort found the Rams outscoring the Lions 30-26 in the second half of the game to escape with the win.
A pair of double double performances paced the Rams’ attack with Bell leading the way with his 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Also adding 15 points to his 10 points scored was Darrius Clark.
