“We are excited to be completing the process of transitioning the Mississippi Prison Industries Corporation into MAGCOR Industries,” Bradley Lum, CEO of MAGCOR Industries said. “MAGCOR Industries is a modernized pathway to reentry for our state’s offenders and a groundbreaking approach to providing offenders with life-changing opportunities and resources.”
MPIC was founded in 1990 as an organization that offered offenders job opportunities while in prison. Recently, the non-profit corporation has developed programs offering Mississippi offenders work-force training, practical skill development, certification opportunities, and post-incarceration transitional support.
Building upon the success of MPIC, MAGCOR Industries looks to increase its impact on the Mississippi prison population by offering enhanced opportunities while in prison and reinforcing the reentry process for exiting offenders. According to Lum, the goal is to change lives and give offenders the resources they need to be successful upon release.
“As we look toward the future, our expectation is that we continually increase the percentage of offenders fully prepared to reintegrate back into our communities,” said Lum. “We know with absolute certainty that most offenders will be released, and we have a moral responsibility to ensure that they are prepared to be great citizens.”
